CUPPING

Cupping Benefits:

  1. Reduce pain. Studies have shown that cupping treatment helps reducing pain by releasing tissues deep inside the body, relaxing tense muscles and easing stiffness associated with chronic neck and back pains, migraines, rheumatism and fatigue.

  2. Promotes relaxation. Cupping helps alleviate physical complaints and allows people to relax since it sedates the central nervous system. Another reason cupping is a soothing therapy is because the cups help lift pressure in tense muscles which offers a relieving sensation just like receiving a deep tissue massage.

  3. Boots skin health. Cupping is used to reduce herpes, cellulite, acne and skin inflammation. It tones and firms skin by improving blood flow and expanding capillaries.

  4. Helps treat respiratory issues and colds. Used to help nourish the lungs and clear away phlegm and congestion. It is a useful treatment for speeding up healing time from respiratory illnesses like the flu or common colds. Cupping helps improve immune function by moving blood and lymphatic fluid throughout the body, which is why it's been associated with reductions in lung diseases, allergies, infections and asthma.

  5. Improves digestion. Cupping therapy has been found to be beneficial for people with frequent stomach pains, diarrhea, acute gastritis, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal diseases and water retention.

The Healing Technique Leaving Its Marks.

Cupping is a well known Traditional Chinese treatment that uses small plastic or glass cups as suction devices that are placed on the skin. The cups can be gently moved across the skin.

The suction in the cups causes the skin and superficial muscle layer to be lightly drawn into the cup. Cupping is much like the inverse of massage - rather than apply pressure to muscles, it uses gentle pressure to pull them upward.

For most patients, this is a particularly relaxing and relieving sensation. Once suctioned, the cups are generally left in place for about ten minutes while the patient relaxes. This is similar to the practice of Tui Na, a traditional Chinese medicine massage technique that targets acupuncture points as well as painful body parts, and is well know to provide relief through pressure.

The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure).

Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite. For weight loss and cellulite treatments, oil is first applied to the skin, and then the cups are moved up and down the surrounding area.
